華盛頓郵報公司周一 (5日)宣布，該公司已同意以2億5000 萬美元 (台幣元75億元)，將該公司的旗艦報紙《華盛頓郵報》與公司旗下的關係出版物賣給亞馬遜.com 創辦人兼執行長貝佐斯，交易將在60天內完成，結束Graham迄今四個世代共80年的華郵所有權。貝佐斯是個人出資買華郵，成為其唯一所有人，一切與亞馬遜無關。報導說，華郵將改成目前尚未決定的新名字，繼續上市，目前的華郵發行人Katharin Weymouth將仍是發行人兼執行長，現任總編輯Martin Baron 也留任，二千位員工也不會解雇。貝佐斯表示，他仍住西雅圖，新報紙的經營交給亞馬遜團隊。
