法新社報導，西藏流亡政府總理洛桑森格21日說，美國總統歐巴馬與西藏精神領袖達賴喇嘛當日的會晤，「向西藏內部民眾傳遞了一項強烈訊息，它帶給西藏人一股希望──有人聆聽他們的聲音，甚至是全世界最有權勢的人都在聆聽他們的聲音」。洛桑森格還說，歐巴馬向達賴喇嘛展現的尊種，對全球西藏人，尤其是西藏內部的藏民而言意義重大。

洛桑森格指出，達賴喇嘛告訴歐巴馬，他以和平方式在中國內部尋求高度自治之際，堅守的是「中道」。
